26/01/2021 | Thomson Industries Introduces Online Lead Screw Selector Tool for Seamless Selection and Purchasing Experience

WOOD DALE, IL - Thomson Industries, Inc., a global provider of linear motion control solutions, has launched an online selector tool for lead screws and lead nuts that simplifies and streamlines the selection and purchasing experience. The new tool enables design engineers to identify the optimal component quickly, access the corresponding 3D model with just a click, view pricing and lead times, easily share orderable product specifications, and even order the product immediately.

Using the intuitive online selector tool, users can quickly and easily find optimal Thomson lead screws for their applications.

Thomson precision lead screws are an excellent, economical solution for linear motion applications. Lead screws are often used in instrument-grade applications where smooth, precise, clean and maintenance-free operation is required. Lead screws are compact and quiet, ensuring accurate positioning to 0.003 in/ft. Although relatively inexpensive compared to ball screws, they remain highly customizable with the ability to fine-tune leads, sizes and nut configurations with rapid prototyping available. The Thomson portfolio of lead screws offers a wide range of preload variants and standard plastic nuts systems in the form of anti-backlash or standard Supernuts®. All of these variants are systematically featured in the lead screw selector tool as well.

“At Thomson, our portfolio of lead screws, lead nuts and lead screw assemblies is quite vast and, therefore, determining the right product for a given application can be challenging to anyone not familiar with our range of options,” said Saurabh Khetan, Product Line Manager – Lead Screws at Thomson. “This new online tool seeks to solve this problem. It is just the latest addition to our existing framework of online product selectors, and it aims to simplify the sizing and selection experience.”

The new Thomson online product selector tool for lead screws uses a visual-based menu and real-time filter adjustments to streamline the search, selection and purchasing processes.

To help users find the optimal lead screw for their applications, the online tool uses an intuitive, visual-based menu to narrow down selection options in a matter of minutes, and real-time parameter filters further enhance the solution results. Up-front pricing and lead times, and user-prompted live assistance are also accessible – all without leaving the original page.

Once the configuration is complete, users can either add it to a shopping cart for immediate purchase, download a 3D model (including lead screw assemblies) into their CAD program, or access a catalog PDF containing product details and specifications. The streamlined process not only takes significantly less time than traditional approaches, but it also yields better results.
