I supporti per alberi sono usati per un supporto sulle estremità o intermedioin cui i carichi sono leggeri ed un lieve flessione dell'albero non è un problema. A differenza delle rotaie di supporto dell'albero, i supporti non permettono il passaggio longitudinale della sfera nei cuscinetti a boccola di tipo aperto . I supporti per alberi consentono il serraggio di alberi, tipo SB ed eliminare la necessità di viti per mantenere la posizione dell'albero. Si consiglia di inserire spessori per applicazioni di alta precisione per eliminare l'effetto delle variazioni di superficie di base o tolleranze di produzione tra i supporti.
