The Thomson Ball Bushing bearing line consists of the following families:
Super Smart Ball Bushing Bearings
Super Ball Bushing Bearings
Precision Steel Ball Bushing Bearings
“A” bearing
MultiTrac (MAM)
Die set
Super Smart
The Super Smart is our highest load capacity per size and most self-aligning Ball Bushing® bearing. Super Smart bearings offer dual track, floating bearing plates with ball-conforming grooves. Floating bearing plates optimize load distribution between ball tracks and assure uniform ball loading over the entire length. The floating plates allow for universal self-alignment of up to ½°.
Lightweight, wear-resistant, engineered-polymer retainers and outer sleeves reduce inertia and noise. Double-lip integral wipers (optional) keep dirt out while retaining lubrication .
The Super Smart design offers 6x more load capacity than “A” bearings and 2x more load capacity than industry standard Super bearings.
Available in sizes:
Inch: ½” – 1.5” (Black) Metric: 16 mm – 40 mm (Blue EU standard or white JIS)
Load Capacity: 265 - 3880 lbs.

Super Ball Bushing® bearings offer floating bearing plates similar to the Super Smart but with only one groove per floating bearing plate. The floating plates allow for self alignment of up to ½°.
Seal option for Super linear bearings is available. This seal adds additional length to the linear bearing. Super pillow blocks offer sealing protection as standard with no additional length to the blocks.
The Super design offers 3x more load capacity than “A” bearings (1/2 the capacity of a Super Smart).
Available in sizes:
Inch: ½” – 2.0” Metric: 3 mm – 50 mm Load Capacity: 10 - 3000 lbs.

This steel sleeve anti-friction recirculating Ball Bushing® bearing provides rigid low drag movement – ~100x lower drag coefficient than a plain contact bearing. "A" Bearings – all steel operate up to 600°F/315°C. Three grades of precision available (A, XA, B). Corrosion-resistant options available on most sizes. Seals are also available but de-rate the temperature rating to 250°F/121°C.
Unlike Super Smart and Super linear bearings, "A" bearings have No self-alignment capability.
Available in sizes:
Inch: 1/4” – 4.0” Load Capacity: 19 - 5000 lbs.

Unlike Super Smart and Super linear bearings, "A" bearings have No self-alignment capability.
Rigid, all-steel construction similar to the "A" bearing but with a housing specifically designed for used in post punch presses. “Preloaded” fit provides zero clearance (Use class D shafting). Only available in closed style. Mounting screws and clamps are included. The quantity of screws and clamps vary by size.
Qty 2 for sizes 16 (1" diameter)
Qty 3 for size 20 and 24 (1.25" and 1.5" diameter)
Qty 4 for size 32 (2" diameter)
Unlike Super Smart and Super linear bearings, die set bearings have No self-alignment capability.
Available in sizes:
Inch: 1.0” – 2.0”;
Load capacity: 350 to 770 lbs

The MAM bearing is a rigid design for minimal deflection. MAMs have twice the load capacity of a similar sized "A" bearing. Similar to the "A" bearing in some ways, MAMs are different in the fact they utilize polymer retainers. This reduces inertia and noise but also limits the maximum temperature to 185°F/85°C. Corrosion-resistant options are available.
Unlike Super Smart and Super linear bearings, MAM bearings have No self-alignment capability.
Available in sizes:
Metric: 8 mm – 40 mm Load Capacity: 180 - 4200 N
