Design and Theory

The play or lash between the shaft and ball bushing in some cases can be adjustable.  This video discusses how this can be done.

"A" and MAM bearings with the adjustable option have a slit cut through the outer sleeve. The slit allows the outer sleeve to be compressed and therefore the bearing tracks will be moved closer to the shaft.  Open bearings always have missing segment on one side of the outer sleeve and therefore do not need an adjustable option.
