4/24/2015 | New Video from Thomson Demonstrates How to Synchronise Multiple Lifting Columns

04.24.2015, Kristianstad, Sweden – Thomson Industries, Inc., a leading manufacturer of mechanical motion control solutions, has released a new tech tip video which demonstrates how design engineers can synchronise multiple Thomson Lifting Columns quickly and easily. Thomson lifting columns’ compact design provides favourable ratio between stroke and retracted length to improve operator ergonomics. Models are designed to handle moment loads up to 400Nm and speeds up to 19mm/s to improve device functionality with higher and offset loads while still providing throughput requirements.

Kyle Thompson, Global Product Line Manager, Systems at Thomson, explains in the video, “Once the columns are installed and retracted, to synchronise you only need an encoder equipped to each column and a Thomson control. The end-user simply needs to press the Thomson control button for five seconds until they hear a ‘click’ noise to confirm that the columns have been synchronised. This allows the columns to move together in unison.“

Kyle uses the Thomson Lifting Column product family with three different models that are all made of self-supporting anodised aluminium profiles which are easy to install and aesthetically pleasing, with no need for shroud or cover. The range is easy to install with pre-drilled mounting holes and maintenance free, including an IP44 protection rating. Thomson Lifting Columns are ideal for applications like medical table beds and as an ergonomic automation solution to increase operator comfort and productivity.

Thomson strives to continually innovate and lead the marketplace in linear motion solutions and also shares their application engineering and technical expertise. To that end, Thomson has authored a wide range of educational videos, webinars and technical white papers available now at thomsonlinear.com to inform and guide design engineers, explain technology alternatives and simplify the linear motion component selection process.
